he European Union will introduce a €3 uniform tariff on low‑value incoming parcels starting July, disrupting trade and targeting Chinese platforms like Temu, Shein, and AliExpress. The move aims to curb “artificially cheap” imports and level the playing field for EU retailers, with greater transparency required for shipping, logistics, duties, and taxes.

Consumers will bear higher costs; small items like phone cases may become uneconomical to order. By 2025, EU e‑commerce turnover hit €358.7 billion, with 70% of incoming parcels from just three Chinese platforms, which also dominate Hungary’s market.

Hungarian retailers must adapt by strengthening local/regional warehousing, improving supply chains, and enhancing fulfillment speed and customer experience to compete as tariffs raise cross‑border costs.
